WE offer you a Large Beautiful Home and Guest House surrounded by National Forests and lush rainforest mountains, on the banks of the white water Rio Cangrejal, with spectacular views of a 200 foot jungle waterfall. Location, Location!
The Main house is 2048 sq. feet with 11-15ft ceilings, Two 16x16 bedrooms with en suite baths and walk-in closets, 16x32 open living area/kitchen with hard wood cabinets, island, all doors and stairs are hard wood, terracotta tiled floor, 6' foot windows to bring in the forest breeze and views, There are 2 large 64x10 decks, one below, one above, facing the river and waterfall and surrounded by mature tropical gardens.
The Main House has reliable satellite internet and cell signal.
The Guesthouse is 850 sq. feet, we call it "jungle chic" with poured concrete kitchenette, bedroom, lovely porch, large bath and sits by a gurgling creek and thickets of bamboo, palms and tropical flowers.
The Watchman's house is by the front gate and has a rural kitchen, small bedroom, living room, bath and outdoor shower. With a little creativity, it could be transformed into a 2nd guesthouse. There is a large river stone spiral outdoor shower, under the grand old mango tree, a pure delight. There is also a charming 16X12 screened in thatched roof building by the river that can be used as a yoga/massage space, out door dining or another guest bedroom.
The property is 2 tropical acres, 275 feet above sea level with surrounding mountains reaching upward to 7000 feet. Because the river is situated directly in front, it increases the property size by at least an acre. With the National Park on the other side of the river, views goes on forever and it will also remain untouched and completely private.
The property is loaded with mature fruit trees (grapefruit, coconut, orange, avocado, pineapple, banana, plantain, soursop, sour orange, lime, cashew, nutmeg, lychee, mango, coffee, mangosteen, cacao, noni, black pepper, vanilla), landscaped with mature gardens of exotic tropical flowers, towering trees, impeccable mountain air, fresh mountain spring drinking water without additives or chemicals and views that take your breath away.
The area is rural and considered the premiere ECO TOURISM area in Honduras, with other expat Eco-lodges, B+B's and small high-end resorts near by. We have used this property as our home and small yoga retreat center. You can use it as a private residence, B+B or eco business.
Lovely river stone paths connect the houses between fruit trees, and lush plantings.
There is plenty of room for more cabins and gardening.
The Rio Cangrejal is one of the top 4 white water rafting rivers in the world. It runs 14 miles from the headwaters high up in the mountains to the Caribbean Sea. Wild and Rushing in the rainy season, clear and clean in the dry season and home to otters, fish, water birds year round. We swim every day in the best swimming hole on the river just a few paces from the property.
Locally, you can hike some truly epic trails through the rainforest. Waterfalls are everywhere. Canopy Zip lining is very close by, as are tour operators for white water rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking. area is PACKED with Eco activities.
Toucans and other tropical birds as well as exotic butterflies visit daily.
The friendly Caribbean city of La Ceiba is 7 miles away down a quiet 2 WD dirt road. It is the port city on the Northern Caribbean Coast of Honduras in Central America. The city has been officially proclaimed the "Eco-Tourism Capital of Honduras.
La Ceiba is an all amenities town with markets, banks, International airport, restaurants, hardware stores, movie theaters, casinos, a golf course, any thing you should desire. La Ceiba is home to DOLE Fruit Company since 1850 and is very friendly to expats from many different countries.
Taxes are $65 a year and paid thru 2011. We have an experienced, full time, live in watchman/caretaker. He does all the grounds keeping and helps with house maintenance. We hire his wife to help clean the house and guest rooms. Both are responsible, well trained, hardworking and honest. You can keep them on if you like. Food is very reasonable, fresh, delicious and grown locally.
We have made many upgrades to the property including a new roof, installed internet dish, constructed a "state of the art" composting toilet in the coffee grove with river views, built a traditional "champa" for yoga and massage, improved the electricity and plumbing, upgraded the guest house, pathways to the river, and planted many fruit trees.
This is truly a magnificent property in a very special, tranquil place. We are selling so we can develop a larger tract of land higher up in the mountains.
